Only 2% of American Investors Own Bitcoin: Who Are They?

A survey conducted by Wells Fargo/Gallup showed that only 2 percent of U.S investors own Bitcoin. Although, the level of interest in cryptocurrency is quite high, as 26% of investors said that they are intrigued by the most popular cryptocurrency, only 0.5% of respondents said that they will purchase BTC in the near future.
According to survey results, one of the factors that scare investors off is trading risk. 75% of respondents believe that Bitcoin is a very risky asset, and 23% say that it is "somewhat risky". Only 2% of investors say that Bitcoin is not a very risky asset, and an insignificantly small number of respondents do not consider it risky at all.
However, the growing amount of young investors may change the perception of Bitcoin among U.S investors.
Lydia Saad, a senior editor at Gallup, said:
"But as Wells Fargo/Gallup surveys have found in the past, most U.S. investors prefer to play it safe with their investments, opting for security over growth. Looking to the future, however, many younger investors who currently say they are intrigued may be converted to investors once the currency goes more mainstream."
The survey also found that Bitcoin is more popular among men and people between ages from 18 to 49. 3 percent of men and 1 percent of women own Bitcoin. Speaking about the age of Bitcoin owners, only 1 percent of U.S investors aged 50 and over said that they have BTC, while 3 percent of investors aged from 18 to 49 own Bitcoin.
Also, the number of Bitcoin owners among more wealthy investors is higher. 3 percent of investors earning at least $90,000 have Bitcoin, while only 1 percent of less wealthy investors have the cryptocurrency.
